Clipsal pioneered the use of adjustable conduit fittings back in 1920 when Alfred Gerard developed a range of fittings manufactured from sheet metal which could be expanded or contracted.

At that time all electrical conduit used in Australia was imported from overseas, and made to various standards and unacceptable size variations
